BGS School Mission and Vision Meeting
As we approach the 10th anniversary of Boulder German School (BGS), we would like to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support over the years. Your involvement has been so important in shaping our community and enhancing the experience of our students.
Since you or your family member are part of our program, we would love to hear your thoughts on BGS. We would like to focus on where we are as a school today, and solicit your ideas for our future.
Please join us at an in-person mission meeting at our school location (at ALC, 685 Inca Parkway).
Lantern Walk
Our Traditional Lantern Parade with St. Martina 🐴 will take place Sunday, Nov. 10th at 5pm
📍 Location: Admiral Arleigh A. Burke Park (across from Frasier Meadow's Retirement Building)(across from Frasier Meadow's Retirement Center) in Boulder.
We will meet at the gazebo, close to the intersection of Ponca Place & Pawnee Drive.
Prior to the parade, some of our students will share the story of St. Martin and we will follow St. Martina with our lanterns, sing the traditional German lantern songs, share a pretzel with a friend, and celebrate our community.
Please watch, sing & practice the following songs: St. Martin and Laternen Lieder Mix on Youtube (see links below) with your children & bring a flashlight. We will pass out copies of the songs in the gazebo area.

We would like to thank Anna and Birgit who organized a fantastic Lantern Making Event two weeks ago. The students made beautiful lanterns and we can't wait to see them this weekend.

Octoberfest
Oktoberfest 2024 – SAVE THE DATE:
The School will be hosting an Oktoberfest event this year. Registration will begin in early August.
Date: Sunday, September 15th, 2024.
Where: Prost Brewing Co – 351 W 104th Ave, Northglenn
Time: 12pm to 4pm
Cost: $5.00 per adult registration (children 18 and younger are free/please add additional adults as student for payment)
Attendance is limited to 140 for the rented space. $5 Fee is used to help pay for the private room. Prost is a family friendly environment with food and drink for all ages. Guests will be responsible for purchasing their own food and drink.
We will have games for both children and adults to introduce you to the history and fun of Oktoberfest and use your German speaking skills learned in class.
We hope you will join us in September. Until then, have a wonderful summer!

We are excited to be hosting a Mingle - Mischmasch Treffen/Event for our Adult Students with our teacher Karen. Students can practice and improve their German language skills in a casual setting on May 24th from 6 - 8pm at Rayback Collective. Parking is available at the location.
This cultural event is free to attend, but please RSVP below.

We are so excited to invite you to the traditional Maifest that has become such a beloved activity of our school. Maifest celebrates the end of the long winter, and the beginning of warm weather and light. It’s a time of reawakening and joy! Best of all… it’s a fun reason to have a party. Traditionally, a Maibaum (maypole) is set up to mark the day, there are streamers, dances, wreaths and ribbons… To learn more about Maifest.

Maifest will take place on May 4th, 2-4pm.

Jugendtreff December
Jugendtreff at 'The Spot Climbing Gym in Boulder'. For Teen students who attend BGS and open to Teens that study German at a different school. Parents will need to pay $25 for each teen attending. The fee covers climbing shoe rental and climbing wall use for your teen.
Our school will provide free pizzas for the Teens.

Deutsche Sprachdiplom II DSD II
Deutsche Sprachdiplom II DSD II on Wednesday November 29th, 2023 (written Exam)
The DSD II is often required for admission to institutions of higher education (FH, Universität) in Germany.
The DSD I is an officially recognized exam providing proof of the required language skills needed to enroll into a preparatory college in Germany. The level of this exam is a B1 level. The exam is sent to and assessed in Germany, a representative of the ZfA will be present during the verbal exam. This test is conducted world-wide. In 11th or 12th grade, the students can take the DSD II exam.

Goethe A1 & A2 Exam
A1 Prüfung: Saturday, Oct. 21st, 2023 at 9am
A2 Prüfung: Friday, Oct. 20th, 2023 at 12pm
Our German school is an official Goethe Exam Center and we are excited to now offer the Goethe A1 and the Goethe A2 Exam to German Language Learners twice a year. Certified by the Goethe Institute, our teacher are excited to administer and grade the exams.

This year, our Maifest will take place on May 21st, from 2-4pm at the Harlow Platts Park picnic shelter on Viele Lake, Gillaspie Drive, in South Boulder. Parking is available close to the shelter. The shelter has a few picnic tables and restrooms are close by.
