Der Herbst ist immer unsere beste Zeit
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Dear Parents and Friends,

We have had some really warm days in the building and we are excited about transitioning into the cooler time of the year.
It has been fun to see so many returning and new faces at our school in the last couple of weeks. Thank you so much for your interest in the German Language and Culture.

While students and teachers are getting back into their routines, there have been a lot of additional events going on at school:

  • First Jugendtreff Meeting at the Boulder Reservoir!
  • We had to move our German library to a different location. The library will be closed temporarily.
  • Our school staff and friends supported the school by working for a school fundraiser at the Octoberfest in Boulder – Thank you!
  • We celebrated our children’s and teenagers’ success in completing the IVA assessments (Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten) and the German DSD I (Deutsche Sprachdiplom I) exam!

February School News – Adult Spring Block II – Summer Camps

Dear Friends & Families,

Our school has been very busy in the first couple of weeks of the new year. Currently, we offer 10 adult group classes. Students are exposed to a wide range of German language content, from basic German skills to advanced learning. Students and teachers are enjoying these classes very much.

Our children’s program has been expanded this semester. Due to a grant from Germany, our school was able to start a pilot project for this semester. The project entails an additional immersion class on Thursdays at no cost for the families. We are now at the point that the students know the new routine, and now students and teachers are thriving together. It has been confirmed by the teachers that the additional hour of German exposure enhances the students’ learning in the regular class.

One group of eager teenagers is preparing for the upcoming DSD 1 exam in March. Even though it is difficult to work on German grammar skills, they are working hard to master this big challenge.

Our guest speakers/performers for the Jugendtreff semester are Vanessa Gerhard (dance), Ralph Duane (circus) and Gabi Frasier (police officer). This will be so much fun!

Our German bookclub “Treffpunkt Lesen” will meet on February 27. We will talk about the book” Rosenjahre” by Jasmin Tabatabai.

Our second adult spring block will start on February 25, 2019. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced group classes. Please check out our website for more info!

Are your children interested in cooking, science, games & more? Summer camps (incl. extended hours) are up for registration! Please check them out!

Please contact me, if you have any questions.

Best Regards & liebe Grüße,

Birgit Priester
