Spring is here, even though there is a forecast for another storm around the corner.

Nearly 40 adult students are enrolled in our last instruction block to learn the German language and explore the German culture. We are excited to welcome eight adults in our beginner classes. We are also very grateful for our advanced students that stay focused, despite the challenges that the German language offers. Adult classes will run until the end of May.

Our summer schedule for our adults will be online in the next two weeks. One of the classes will be “German Culture, travel phrases and words!” Please stay tuned!

Our spring children’s and teen’s program will end on May 10. There will be one additional week for makeup lessons for winter storms (please contact your teacher to find out, if there is a makeup class).

It has been a fun spring semester with our younger learners. Our preschoolers sang and danced pretending to be “der dicke Tanzbär” or “Schnappi, das kleine Krokodil”. Our elementary and middle schoolers produced TV news shows and our teenagers got ready for the Deutsche Sprachdiplom  or the German AP exam. Neatness to say, there was a lot of learning going on in our building. Apart from regular German instruction, we offered an immersion program on Thursdays. During that time, we tried to expose the children to German phonemes. Our goal was to create a deeper awareness of the different sounds that German language offers. Our teachers noticed that this additional immersion hour  enhanced the learning of the German language among our young students.

Don’t miss our on our big cultural highlight, the May Fest on May 5, 2019 from 10:30 – 12:00 pm. Please join us for this wonderful event with dancing, eating strawberries, making flower crowns and community building. To register for this event, please email Pia.

We offer a full summer camp program of nine weeks for our children ages 5 – 12. Teenagers who are interested in volunteering, should contact me.

Last but not least, I would like to mention that this semester would not have been as successful without the support of our motivated board members, other staff members and volunteers. A big THANK YOU goes to our dedicated teachers that put all their time and effort into preparing the classes to make them a  success for every student at our school. I am looking forward to a wonderful summer and an exciting fall semester.

Liebe Grüße,
